2008/09 Team Descriptions |
These age groups are organized under the
Youth Training System (YTS) of HSC.
Due to the emphasis on player development with these
young groups, we have a YTS Technical Director, Sean Cooper.
We also have a YTS Operations Manager, Alex
Tomlinson, which provides administrative support to the program.
U8 is an in-house Div. IV program.
U9/10 is a Div. III select program - which is the
highest level of play at this age in Alabama.
Div III teams will play in the North Alabama Soccer
League.
Players of like abilities and commitment will be grouped
together when forming the Div III teams.
For existing players, this team formation may
include transition to a different team at the start of a new seasonal year of
play.
This grouping of players will provide for the optimal
learning experience for all of our players.
For the Div III teams, travel commitments do occur
but are minimal due to the age of these players.
Generally the team will travel 2-3 times per season
within a 100 mile radius.
The travel is a great compliment to the local games
and provides the chance for our players to experience different players and
higher competition.
Div III teams have a full-time professional staff
coach.
All players should be attentive, punctual, and hard
working. Notifying the coaches before missing sessions and working on skills at
home is very important.
Div III teams typically have two
practices per week and game(s) on the weekend.
The season will begin August 1st
and conclude Mid-November.
Included with the program is a preseason team camp
in the July/August time frame.
Please consult the web for the latest schedule.
We are offering Division II and III teams. We will strive to put together multiple teams and divide them based on ability and commitment. This separation will allow the players to compete in different leagues that are best suited for their development. The DII team requires a higher level of commitment and ability. Travel requirements are more demanding and typically the team is more expensive due to the added costs of the State league. As part of your program fee, we are offering a team preseason camp in the late July - early August time frame. Consult the web for dates/times. In the fall, a DII team expects players to prioritize soccer over some other extracurricular activities, while not having to eliminate those activities. Both teams should be prepared to compete as a team during the Fall and Spring seasons. DIII teams will compete over the course of a year but the schedule is more flexible. All players should be attentive, punctual, and hard working. Notifying the coaches before missing sessions and working on skills at home is very important and necessary.
We are offering Division I, II, and
III teams. The expectations of the DI team include an aggressive schedule of
games and training to develop a State Championship quality team.
The top DI team will have a required team camp in July.
(Team Camp).
There is a raised expectation of travel, expense, and commitment attached to the
DI team. In the Fall, a DI team expects players to prioritize soccer over other
extracurricular activities, while not having to eliminate those activities. All
teams should be prepared to compete as a team during the
Fall and Spring seasons. For
the DI team, a commitment for both the Fall and
Spring is absolutely necessary to maintain
competitiveness. As part of your program fee for the DI, DII and DIII teams, we
are offering a team preseason camp in the late July - early August time frame.
Consult the web for dates/times. HSC does support middle school soccer,
which may impact a player's eligibility in the spring. We will have a system of
promotion and relegation for our players between teams to promote the most
competitive situation possible. All players should be attentive, punctual, and
hard working. Notifying the coaches and discussing reasons for missed sessions
is a must. Working on fitness and personal skills at home is absolutely
necessary. Unavoidable missed sessions should be replaced by attending a session
with a similar team within the club.
We are offering Region III, Division I, II, and III teams. The RIII team will have a required team camp in July. (Team Camp). The expectations of the RIII & DI teams include an aggressive schedule of games and training to develop a State Championship quality team. There is an expectation of travel, expense, and commitment attached to these teams due to the State & Region league requirements. The RIII & Div I teams should be prepared to compete as a team during the Fall, Spring and even the Summer in the event of winning your State Championship. The DII and DIII teams should also be prepared to compete as a team during the Fall and Spring seasons. The DII team still carries a significant commitment to play in the State league.
